CAIRO – 25 April 2018: Liverpool Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah had one of his best nights since he joined Liverpool when he led his team to defeat his former team, AS Roma 5-2 at the UEFA Champions League semi-finals first leg on Wednesday night.

The Egyptian opened the score after 30 minutes from a stunning screamer to make the score 1-0, but he refused to celebrate scoring against his former club.

Salah doubled the score seconds before the whistle when he chipped the ball over Allison to end the first half 2-0.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard watched the game from the stands and his reactions on Salah’s two goals was epic.

Gerrard spoke highly of Salah after the game, saying “It's difficult to compare him to your Ronaldo and Messi because they've done it for so long and they've been consistent year in, year out. But without a shadow of a doubt he's the best player on the planet right now."

Salah continued his magic in the second half, providing two assists to Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, who added the third and the fourth goals, respectively.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour and Dutch legend Robin Van Persie praised Salah’s performance during the game.

Liverpool fans gave Salah a standing ovation when he left the pitch to be replaced by Danny Ings 20 minutes before the final whistle.
