CAIRO – 25 April 2018: Al-Ahly announced on Tuesday that the club’s Moroccan striker, Walid Azaro, will not be available for the Cairo Derby against Zamalek on Thursday in the Egyptian League.

Azaro picked up a muscle injury during Al-Ahly’s last game in the league against Petrojet on Sunday, which ended with a 2-1 victory for Al-Ahly.

The Moroccan left the field after eight minutes and was replaced by Marwan Mohsen, who scored Al-Ahly’s second goal in the game.

Azaro played a great role in Al-Ahly’s 3-0 victory over Zamalek during the first half of the season, having scored the third goal for his team.

Azaro has had a great season with Al-Ahly, becoming the foreign player to score the most goals in the Egyptian League in one season.

Azaro scored 18 goals for Al-Ahly in the league this season, breaking the 17-goal record of Al-Ahly’s former Angolan striker, Flavio Amado, and Ismaily’s former Nigerian striker, John Utaka.

The Moroccan striker joined Al-Ahly in 2017 from Morocco’s Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi and has since then established himself as one of the key players on the team.
