CAIRO – 24 April 2018: Liverpool hosts Roma on Tuesday night in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final at Liverpool’s castle, Anfield.

Liverpool fans hope their team achieves a comfortable victory before playing the second leg in Italy a week later.

Liverpool’s Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah, will face his former teammates, as he wore Roma’s jersey between 2015 and 2017 before leaving last summer to join Liverpool.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that Salah improved a lot during his time in Italy. He said, “He had a fantastic time there; he became the player there which we now have here. Big, big credit to all the staff and players at Roma, because they are all part of his development.”

The Egyptian had an amazing two seasons with Roma, as he scored 32 goals and was named the best player on the team in both seasons.

Francesco Totti, Salah’s former teammate at Roma, revealed that Salah’s performance with Liverpool surprised him. He said, “This season, I've seen a number of games of Liverpool, especially because Mo Salah is now playing there. I've been following it consistently; to some extent, it surprises me that he has been doing so well in his first season at Liverpool.”

The Egyptian winger was crowned the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year for 2017-18, as he took the Premier League by storm this season, scoring 31 goals to be the Premier League top goal scorer, five goals ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.
