CAIRO – 3 April 2018: Former Barcelona and Roma winger, Bojan Krkic, believes that Barcelona will have the upper hand when they face Italy’s Roma at the UEFA Champions League quarter finals.

“Barcelona are very superior. And it is not because the opponents are Roma, but because of their current state of form, for me they are a clear candidate to win the Champions League," Krkic told Marca, a Spanish sports newspaper, on Tuesday.

Krkic is a product of the Barcelona academy; he joined the club when he was nine years old, and was promoted through the club rankings until he joined the first team at 17.

Krkic spent four years with Barcelona; he took out the UEFA Champions League title twice before leaving to join Roma in 2011.

The winger recalls his memories from Roma, stating “It was the first club that opened its doors for me after spending all my life in Barcelona. They welcomed me like it was my home; Roma will always occupy a place in my heart."

Barcelona will host Roma at the first leg on Wednesday before playing the second leg a week later in Italy.

Krkic predicted Roma to play a defensive game in the first leg, saying “Their goal is to take the tie to Rome by getting a good result in the first leg. They will try to score some goals. They have fast players up front and others with experience. They will try to avoid losing the tie in the first game at all costs.”
