CAIRO – 22 March 2018: Manchester United’s winger Alexis Sánchez is going through a bad time in his career. Sanchez joined Manchester United coming from rivals Arsenal on January 22 and had a rough start as he scored only one goal in the first ten games.

The 29-year-old asked to be excused from international duty as Sweden and Denmark are set to play friendly matches against Chile, but he finally joined the squad after he had a warm talk with his compatriot Manchester City’s goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo.

Sanchez talked to the Chilean press before the friendly games and discussed his situation with Manchester United.

“It was a bit rough for me because it’s the first time I’ve changed a team in January,” Sanchez told reporters in Stockholm on Saturday.

“It’s been very difficult; we were out of the World Cup, and I arrived at my club, which was at the time Arsenal, I got injured,” reflected the 29-year-old, who was close to joining Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the beginning of the season.

“At one stage the transfer broke down, I didn’t go to the other team and at the end I’m at a team that is one of the biggest in the world,” Sanchez added.

Chile, winner of the last two Copa Americas, was eliminated out of the World Cup after failing to qualify when the team lost 3-0 to Brazil.

The English newspaper, Daily Mail, claims that the Chilean winger is an isolated figure at Manchester United, according to a source at the club.

A club source said: "He looks like someone who doesn't want to be here."

"The whole thing doesn't seem right and he looks like a lost boy. It was the same with Di Maria," the source added.
