Icardi chose to represent Argentina over Spain and Italy

CAIRO – 21 March 2018: Inter Argentinean captain, Mauro Icardi revealed on Tuesday that he had offers to represent Italy and Spain on International level but at the end he decided to represent Argentina.

“Italy called me for the Under-21 and I fought with Sampdoria (his previous team) because I did not want to go, I wanted Argentina. The Spaniards also tried, they called my father, but I always wanted Argentina, and I got it.” Icardi told press according to Marca.

Icradi, born in Rosario, Argentina left his homeland when he was 15 to join Barcelona where he spent two years before leaving to start his journey in Italian League.

Icardi spoke about his decision to leave Spain for Italy, saying “I decided to go to Italy because I was convinced I could do better than in Spain,”

The Argentinean striker left Barcelona at 17 to join Sampdoria where he played two years then he joined Inter Milan and became one of the key players in the club since he signed for them in 2013.



Icardi, 25 added “I was immediately given the chance to play at high levels and that was my goal."
