CAIRO - 14 March 2018: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hopes that midfielder Jack Wilshere accepts the club’s offer and renews his contract.

“Jack will be free at the end of the season. We have made a proposal to him and I want him to stay and be linked with the club for the future. I hope he will do it," Wenger told press on Wednesday.

Wenger fears losing another key player after losing Alexis Sanchez in January to Manchester United.

Asked about Wilshere’s ability to join the English national team in the World Cup in Russia, Wenger said, “The vibes I get are positive; I believe he has a good chance to be in there.”

Wilshere, 26, has been a starting player at Arsenal since he returned from a one-year loan to Bournemouth.

Wenger added, “We have to leave that to Gareth Southgate(English national team manager). I have enough to do with my job."

Wilshere is expected to be part of Arsenal’s starting lineup on Thursday when they host AC Milan in the second leg of the Europa League round of 16. The first leg ended with a 2-0 victory for Arsenal.
