CAIRO – 12 March 2018: Al-Masry’s game against El-Entag el-Harby on Monday night ended with a goalless draw to announce Al-Ahly as the Egyptian League champions six weeks before the end of the season.

Al-Ahly had taken a step towards the title when they defeated Enppi 1-0 on Sunday night thanks to a goal from their defender, Ayman Ashraf.

Al-Ahly has achieved 75 points from 24 victories, while three games ended with a draw. They lost only one game, against Misr El-Mikassa.

“It was a tough season and I am very happy to win the title with six weeks remaining. I want to thank all the players and the coaching staff for all their efforts to achieve the league title.” Al-Ahly manager Hossam el-Badry told the club’s official website on Monday.

Al-Ahly has won a record of 40 Egyptian League titles and increased the gap with their successor, Zamalek, which has achieved 12 titles.

Al-Ahly will add a fourth star to their shirt, as they had a tradition of adding a star for every 10 League titles.

Al-Masry stayed in the fourth position of the Egyptian League table with 49 points, two points behind the third-placed Zamalek and four points behind the second-placed Ismaily.
