CAIRO – 12 March 2018: The FIFA World Cup trophy will visit Cairo next Thursday, on its tour to several countries around the world before the 2018 edition of the tournament held in Russia.

The visit aims to allow Egyptian football fans to watch the trophy, which is the greatest prize in the world of football tournaments, and also to celebrate Egypt’s qualifying to the World Cup after 28 years of absence.

Responsible sources at Cairo International Airport said in a special statement to Egypt Today that an important meeting will be held on Tuesday, in the presence of a number of officials from Cairo International Airport, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the sponsoring company of the event and the organizers of the visit, to finalize the ceremony settlements of hosting the World Cup.

The sources pointed out that the delegation which will be accompanying the World Cup is supposed to go to Al Ettihadya Palace as soon as it arrives in Egypt, to meet President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

The Cup will be coming from the Ivory Coast, and is scheduled to leave to Naples in Italy, at the outset of a quick European tour, before cutting thousands of miles to land in Argentina.

The World Cup tour includes 91 cities in 51 countries on six continents, with the aim of giving millions of football fans around the world the chance to prepare for the most important world tournament in the planet, which will be hosted by Russia next June.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour started from London in an official launch ceremony, the World Cup winners Sir Geoff Hurst of England and Andrea Pirlo of Italy attended the ceremony to celebrate and send the FIFA World Cup Original Trophy off on its worldwide journey.
