CAIRO – 10 March 2018: Zamalek SC President Mortada Mansour believes he made huge efforts to keep the club stable after being president in 2013, as the treasury was empty and there were many debts.

Mortada featured in an official video published on Zamalek’s official website. He stressed that the club is in a real crisis that has not been witnessed throughout its history.

Zamalek’s successive boards in the past years have indebted the club, and its financial committee is negotiating with other authorities that have arrears to unfreeze all the club’s accounts.

Zamalek will pay LE 40 million ($2.27 million) of the LE 160 million that they owe the bank; the remaining balance will be scheduled over installments. Zamalek’s financial committee also reached an agreement with the Social Insurance Authority to pay LE 10 million of the LE 28 million owed.

"I was saddened because the financial committee gave LE 50 million for taxes and insurance, although I had agreed in advance to schedule the dues by LE 4 million every month; Zamalek would be divided and split like Iraq If I am not here," Mortada said.

On the other hand, Zamalek’s official website announced that Mortada will reveal the “Signing of the Century” on Saturday night through Sada El-Balad channel.

Mortada has previously pointed out that Zamalek reached an agreement to sign a top African player who will play with his national team in the next World Cup. He also stated that the club paid LE 40 million to include the player in Zamalek’s squad next season.
