CAIRO – 4 March 2018: The Emirati club, Al-Ain, contacted the Egyptian club, Misr Al-Makasah, regarding the permanent signing of Hussein el-Shahat who has played on loan for the Emirati league leaders since January.

El-Shahat has been reportedly linked with a permanent transfer to Al-Ain after his amazing performances since moving from Egypt to the UAE. A source in Misr Al-Makasah’s board has revealed to the media that they set an initial price of $3 million to release the Egyptian midfielder.

The 25-year-old moved to Al-Ain on loan for $500k fees as he shined with Misr Al-Makasah in the first half of the Egyptian league.

El-Shahat had an amazing season with Al-Makasah, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in 17 games, including a goal during Misr el-Makasa’s 3-2 victory over Al-Ahly, and another goal in the team’s 3-1 victory over Zamalek.

Al-Ain is one of the biggest clubs in the UAE. The club has 12 titles in the domestic league and six titles in the UAE President's Cup. They are joint top of the UAE Arabian Gulf League, alongside Al-Wasl, with 25 points each.

El-Shahat shined last Thursday when Al-Ain thrashed Al-Wahda 6-2. Hussein scored one goal and provided three assists in the game.

El-Shahat has remained in his good form since joining Al-Ain as he has scored seven goals and made 10 assists in eight games.

El-Shahat has guaranteed his presence in the Egyptian national team squad this month as Egypt are scheduled to face Portugal on March 23 and Greece on March 27.

The 26-year-old was linked with a move to Al-Ahly in January, but he decided to join Al-Ain instead.
