CAIRO – 3 March 2018: Arsenal and Egypt midfielder, Mohamed Elneny, said that he is confident of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season through two possible ways.

Elneny was handed Arsenal’s player of the month award for January month through the fans’ voting on Arsenal’s official website.

The Egypt international produced a number of impressive midfield displays last month, and also helped the team reach the Carabao Cup final with a solid defensive showing over two legs against Chelsea.

Elneny edged out Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere to top the poll.

“I am very happy to achieve this award for the first time in my career in such a big club like Arsenal. It’s very special for me as I surpassed amazing players in the team. Also, fans’ voting make the award more precious,” Elneny said after he was handed the award.

Arsenal fans are suffering this season as their team currently places sixth in the Premier League and were subjected to two 3-0 defeats against Manchester City in both the Carabao Cup final and in the 28th round of the Premier League.

“We have two possible ways to qualify to the UEFA Champions League next season; either we achieve Europa League’s title or we finish the Premier League in the top four,” he added.

The UEFA Europa League 16th round draw was held on February 23 and it resulted in a big matchup between Arsenal & AC Milan. The first leg will be played next Thursday at San Siro stadium.

“It’s a very tough competition but we’ll fight in every game to reach our goals at the end of the season,” he concluded.

The 25-year-old has featured in 23 games this season; he succeeded to score one goal and provide two assists.

Since he joined Arsenal, Elneny has played 63 games in all the competitions, scored two goals and managed to assist in five goals.

He has won an English FA Cup title as well as a Community Shield medal during his time in London.
