CAIRO – 28 February 2018: The Egyptian Football Association has delivered an official offer from Panama requesting a friendly match in May, as a preparation for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The EFA has already made arrangements to host and face several teams in friendly matches as preparation for the World Cup. Head of EFA Hany Abu Reida said earlier that Egypt will have two matches, one on March 23 and another on March 27, against Portugal and Bulgaria respectively.

The World Cup draw conducted last December at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow placed Egypt in group A alongside Russia, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in the most important
football competition in the world, due to commence on June 14.

The Pharaohs start their journey in Russia facing Uruguay on June 15 at 2 p.m. Cairo local time. The second match will be against the host country Russia on June 19 at 8 p.m., while the last match of the group stage will be against the Saudi Arabian fellow team on June 25 at 4 p.m.

Egypt may have scored a major achievement after qualifying to the World Cup following 28 years of absence, but Panama might have scored an even greater achievement by qualifying to the World Cup for the first time in its history.
