CAIRO – 24 February 2018: The German magazine Focus has revealed that FIFA is close to withdrawing the 2022 World Cup from Qatar and giving it to the United States or England, with the decision to be made by the end of next summer.

FIFA has changed the voting procedures on host files so that all 211 members can vote on the files of countries wishing to host the world's most important sports event, according to Sky News.

Twenty-four members had previously been eligible to vote in front of the Executive Committee, but due to the necessity of impartiality in Qatar’s case, the procedures had been changed.

Several news reports referred that the World Cup could be withdrawn from Qatar due to corruption charges, in addition to the probability of Qatar’s beIN Sports losing their broadcasting rights of the 2018 World Cup.
