CAIRO – 20 February 2018: The World Cup trophy will arrive in Cairo on March 15 and 16 in a ceremony that will be held under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This visit aims to give Egyptian football fans the chance to see the trophy of the biggest prize in the world of football tournaments, and to celebrate Egypt's qualification to the World Cup after a 28-year absence from the world football arena.

The World Cup tour includes 91 cities and 51 countries on six continents to give millions around the world the chance to be prepared for the world's biggest sports tournament.

The trophy will be a guest of Egypt after Ivory Coast and will then leave for Napoli, Italy for a quick European tour before cutting thousands of miles to land in Argentina, according to Youm7.

Egyptian Minister of Sports and Youth Khaled Abdel Aziz commented on the World Cup visit, saying, "We are proud of the World Cup trophy visit to Egypt this year, especially after our national team had qualified for this year's tournament in Russia. The national team was able to ignite the enthusiasm of Egyptians to achieve a long-awaited dream of 28 years and look forward to seeing the team exert their utmost efforts during the World Cup. "

"Egypt has finally managed to qualify for the World Cup after a 28-year wait," said Karim Salah El Din, general manager of the World Cup sponsor. "When Egyptians unite, they make history, and 2018 will witness Egyptians standing side by side in the World Cup,” he added.

"Although it is not the first time that the trophy has visited Egypt, the qualification of the national team for the World Cup will give the visit a different flavor, as Egyptians will prepare to enjoy the game of football by watching the most important symbols of victory, which is the trophy,” Salah El Din said.

Egypt has qualified to the 2018 World Cup after 28 years of absence, having last participated in the 1990 edition, which was held in Italy. The Pharaohs managed to join the qualified teams to the 2018 World Cup from the fifth round of the African qualifiers, as the team led its group, which included Uganda, Ghana and Congo.
