CAIRO – 14 February 2018: Al-Ahly’s Moroccan striker, Walid Azarro, revealed on Wednesday that he hopes to achieve the CAF Champions League title with his team after losing the final last year.

“I want to achieve all the domestic competitions with the club this season, but we focus on achieving the Champions League title after losing to Wydad Casablanca last year,” Azarro told Sada El-Balad on Wednesday.

Azarro joined Al-Ahly last summer and since then has established himself as the team’s first choice on the attacking line.

Azarro played a great role in the CAF Champions League campaign last season, scoring a hat-trick in the semi-finals against Etoile du Sahel to lead the club to the final.

Azarro added, “I do my best since I joined the club to be the top goal scorer in the Egyptian League.”

Azarro scored 14 goals in the league this season, becoming the league’s top goal scorer. His goals led Al-Ahly to top the league with 14 points cllear.

Morocco has reached the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and the draw put them in the group of death alongside Spain, Portugal and Iran. Azarro hopes to be among the national team squad at the World Cup.

Azarro added, “I am giving everything on the pitch to earn a place with the national team squad at the World Cup, but the national team has many players who play in Europe, so it will be difficult for me.”
