CAIRO – 10 February 2018: Mohamed Antar scored his first goal in the 63rd minute as Zamalek beat Smouha 1-0 on Saturday in the 23rd round of the Egyptian League at Borg El Arab Stadium.

Zamalek’s victory provisionally closed the gap on third-placed Al-Masry to two points, with one game less than Port Said’s team.

The White Castle’s new signing, Mohamed Antar, brought joy to Zamalek’s fans, as they were waiting to see his performance, and he did not let them down, scoring his first goal with the White team.

Ihab Galal’s third win in seven matches and the second consecutive victory, after Tanta’s victory, removed the criticism of Zamalek’s fans – at least for now.

Zamalek succeeded to overcome Smouha’s hype, as this is the first win since 2014. Five matches have been played since then, with three ending with a draw and two in defeat for the White team.

The match came at a quiet pace most of the time before Mohamed Antar's first goal, with some serious opportunities from both teams.

Zamalek plays against Wadi Degla FC on Wednesday, while Smouha faces el-Gaish in the same round.
