CAIRO – 18 January 2018: On Thursday, FC Barcelona announced that the club have reached an agreement with their defender, Gerard Pique to renew his contract with the club until 2022 with a buyout clause of € 500 million.

Pique, born in Barcelona, is one of the club’s academy products. He joined Barcelona when he was just 10 years old and he was promoted through the club rankings until he left the club at the age of 17 to join Manchester United.

Pique, 30, spent four years in England until he rejoined Barcelona in 2009 and has since established himself as one of Barcelona’s key players.

Pique has helped the club win many titles, including three Champions League titles, six Spanish League titles, five Spanish Cup titles, five Spanish Super Cup titles, three European Super Cup titles and three Club World Cup titles according to Barcelona’s official website.

Pique has worn the Barcelona jersey in 422 games scoring 37 goals for the club.
