CAIRO – 8 January 2018: Zamalek President Mortada Mansour announced on Monday that Zamalek players Ali Gabr, Ahmed El Shenawi, Bassem Morsy and Hazem Imam will leave the club after Zamalek’s 0-3 loss to Al-Ahly in the Cairo Derby.

“I thank the four players for what they have done for the team, but they will not play again for Zamalek. They were behind the loss at the derby. I am waiting for offers to let them go,” Mansour told press after the game.

Morsy missed a penalty for Zamalek when the game was 1-0, while Shenawi’s mistakes led to Al-Ahly scoring three goals in the game.

Mortada praised Zamalek’s new manager, Ihab Galal, saying, “He is a great manager and we played a great game, but Al-Ahly scored three goals from our mistakes.”

Galal was appointed Zamalek’s new manager only two days before the game and he took the decision to start his spell with Zamalek against Al-Ahly.
