CAIRO – 5 January 2017: Chelsea Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, revealed on Thursday that he and his Belgian teammate, Eden Hazard, are happy at Chelsea and they want to renew their contracts with the club.

“I'm happy at Chelsea and a deal is close. Do Eden and I encourage each other to sign? Yes. He will say 'if you sign, I will sign' and I say the same to him. I think we are both happy at Chelsea; we both have a good part to play. We have been champions twice in the four seasons I have been here and can have our peak years together at Chelsea," Courtois told Sky Sports on Thursday.

Hazard and Courtois played an important role in the game against Arsenal on Wednesday which ended in a 2-2 draw. Hazard scored Chelsea’s first goal in the game through a penalty while Courtois prevented Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette from scoring.

Courtois believes that Hazard’s transfer would be a great loss to Chelsea, he said, “Eden is irreplaceable. With the money he will raise, you can buy five players, but none of them will be like Eden.”

Both players have been linked with a move to Spanish giant Real Madrid.
