CAIRO – 1 January 2018: Everton host Manchester United on Monday night at Goodison Park at the Premier League. The game will be a great occasion for Manchester’s defender, Phil Jones, to meet his mentor, Sam Allardyce, who is the current manager of the host team.

Phil Jones, born in Lancashire, joined the city’s local team, Blackburn Rovers, when he was just a 10-year-old kid with a dream of one day making it to the Premier League. Jones, one of the most promising talents in the club, got promoted through the club ranks and was waiting for his chance to join the first team.

Jones’s chance came in 2009 when he was 17, as the then-club manager, Sam Allardyce, watched him and decided to give him the opportunity to play for the first team.

Jones had a great night when Big Sam chose him to start the game against Chelsea at the Premier League in Ewood Park, where he always wished to play in front of his family and friends.

Jones proved his manager’s point, as he played a great game against one of the greatest attacking lines in the league; he was highly applauded after the game for his great performance.

Jones then spent two years at Blackburn learning from Allardyce before their roads split as the player left the city to join the nation’s biggest team, Manchester United, while Big Sam left the club and started a new journey at West Ham.

Allardyce and Jones will be enemies for 90 minutes at Goodison Park but after the game, Jones will meet his mentor again to recall their beautiful memories.
