CAIRO – 31 December 2017: It was a wonderful night at Borg El Arab stadium to send a message of peace to the whole world from Alexandria.

Al Ahly, Egypt’s champions, hosted one of the best teams in the world, Atletico Madrid, who arrived at Egypt with their world class stars to play a friendly game in front of 70,000 Egyptian football fans at the stands and millions of spectators who followed the game from their homes.

Al Ahly invited many Egyptian and Arab stars to participate in the game like Mohamed El Shalhoub, Fahd El Mowalad, Yasser El Qahtani and Hassan El Raheb from Saudi Arabia, Sayed Diaa and Ismail Abdel Latif from Bahrain who wore Al Ahly jerseys in the game.

Six Egyptian players from other teams participated in the game, Enppi’s Ramy Sabry, Misr El Makassa’s Ahmed Samy, Smouha’s Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Arab Contractor’s Mohamed Farouk, Al Ahly’s former goalkeeper, Ahmed Fawzi, and two Egyptian players who plays at the Saudi Arabian League, Mahmoud Abdel Monem known as Kahraba and Al Ahly’s former captain, Hossam Ghaly.

Al Ahly also invited Omar Abdel Rahman, known as Amouri, and Ahmed Khalil, who could not attend because of their participation with the national team at the Gulf Cup in Kuwait.

Atletico Madrid’s manager, Diego Simeone, called all his biggest stars to the game like Fernando Torres, Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann.

Many public figures attended the celebration like the Minister of Youth and Sports, Khaled Abdel Aziz, and the famous artist, Mohamed Hamaki, who kicked the first ball in the game.

Al Ahly lost 3-2 to their Spanish opponent but it was a game with more important goals than the goals scored. It was a clear message of peace to the whole world and in these kind of games, we are all winners.
