CAIRO – 30 December 2017: Manchester City’s Spanish manager, Pep Guardiola, showed his admiration for the club’s Argentinean defender, Nicolas Otamendi, who played a huge role in the club’s successes in the Premier League this season.

"He has been amazing, and he is one of the hugest competitors I have ever seen in my life. I cannot imagine the situation we are in at the moment in terms of the table without him. It would have been impossible," Guardiola told press on Friday.

Otamendi, 29, featured in 19 Premier League games out of 20 this season, and he led the team to nine clean sheets. He scored four goals in the league this season, including the winning goal over Manchester United in the Manchester Derby that ended 2-1 for Man City.

Guardiola believes that the club’s unbeaten record in the Premier League will come to an end, though. He said, “Sooner or later, we are going to drop points, and then we will see how we react in that moment."

Manchester City leads the Premier League table with 58 points after 20 fixtures. The team won 19 games and they lost only two points after a 1-1 draw against Everton in the second fixture of the league.
