Emery expects Madrid victory over Barcelona

CAIRO – 22 December 2017: Paris Saint Germain manager Unai Emery sees Real Madrid as favorites to defeat Barcelona on Saturday at the game known as “El Calsico”.

“They are many points behind, but on Saturday, if one team if favorite to win, then it should be Real Madrid, as they're at home. They need the three points, and home advantage is quite important,” Emery told press on Thursday.

Real Madrid hosts Barcelona on Saturday at Madrid’s stadium, Santiago Bernabeu, in the Spanish League. Barcelona leads the Spanish League table, six points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid and 11 points ahead of Real Madrid, who still have a postponed game against Leganes.

Emery believes that Real Madrid’s poor results in the league this season do not mean that they are suffering. He said, “When the most important matches come along, I am convinced they'll be good. Real Madrid still has a really good team.”

Emery will travel to Madrid in February with his team to play against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 before receiving them in Paris a month later to play the second leg.
