CAIRO – 22 December 2017: Real Madrid hosts Barcelona on Saturday in the Spanish League in the game widely known as “El Clasico”.

Real Madrid’s former English striker, Michael Owen, picked his all time Clasico team from Barcelona and Real Madrid players on Thursday during an interview with Marca.

Owen chose five Real Madrid and five Barcelona players, as well as a player who represented both teams.

Owen chose Iker Cassillas, Sergio Ramos, Roberto Carlos, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane from Real Madrid, and he chose Carles Puyol, Johan Cruyff, Andres Iniesta, Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi from Barcelona.

Owen also chose Michael Laudrup, who played five years for Barcelona and two years for Real Madrid.

Owen joined Real Madrid in 2004 from Liverpool. He played only one season in Spain, before deciding to return to England, where he played for Newcastle, Manchester United and Stoke City.

Owen wore Real Madrid’s jersey in two Clasico games. The first one in Camp Nou was not a good experience for the English striker, who came as a substitute in Real Madrid’s 0-3 loss to Barcelona.

However, Owen and his teammates took their revenge in their game at home when they won 4-2, with Owen scoring Madrid’s fourth goal in the game.
