Klopp explains Salah’s, Chamberlain’s start with Liverpool

CAIRO – 21 December 2017: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s late arrival is the reason behind the player’s poor start with the club, as opposed to Salah, who arrived earlier.

“Salah came in the pre-season—that was the big difference. If Alex had been here in the pre-season, it would have been completely different. Alex came in the middle of the season, that's why I don't like these late transfers but that's how it is,” Klopp told Liverpool’s website on Wednesday.

Salah and Chamberlain were the biggest names signed by Liverpool last summer. Salah joined the club from AS Roma while Chamberlain joined the club from Arsenal in the last days of the transfer market.

Salah established himself as Liverpool’s best player this season, scoring 19 goals with the club including 14 goals in the Premier League to be the league’s top scorer. Meanwhile, Chamberlain scored only two goals with the club.

Klopp praised Chamberlain, saying, "I was happy from the first day about his involvement and attitude and since then, he became more and more a Liverpool player.”

Chamberlain participated in Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday at the Premier League.
