CAIRO – 18 December 2017: The absence of African duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane of the Merseyside derby against Everton in the FA Cup on January 5 was confirmed.

The Daily Mirror confirmed the duo's presence at the CAF Awards ceremony on January 4 to confirm their absence from the match a day later.

Salah and Mane are preparing to cut 9,000 miles to Ghana to attend the event, where the duo will compete with six Arab players out of 30:

Essam El Hadary, Ali Maaloul, Yousif Al Masakeni, Karim Al Ahmadi, Khalid Boutaib and Yassin Brahimi.

The absence of Salah and Mane will have a big impact on Liverpool’s lineup as they are currently the team’s best duo and have scored 27 goals so far this season in all competitions.

Salah became the first English Premier League player of the season to score 20 goals in all competitions.
