CAIRO – 15 December 2017 : Everton first team coach, Craig Shakespeare praised Wayne Rooney after he scored the winning goal against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.

"I'm very impressed with Wayne, to score the winner, being in the right place at the right time last night, obviously he is in a purple patch," Shakespeare told press on Thursday.

Rooney secured the three points for Everton against Newcastle on Wednesday to continue his amazing run with his childhood club. Rooney also helped Everton to a draw against Liverpool at Mersyside on Sunday by scoring their only goal.

Shakespeare spoke about Liverpool draw saying, “Everybody, all the pundits, had Liverpool as favorites, we knew that, going there, we could cause them problems when we had a chance. We would have liked to have caused them more problems but to come away from there with a point, I think, has to be satisfying."

Shakespeare was appointed as Everton first coach to help their manager, Sam Allardyce. Both managers worked together for four months at the English national team.
