Cuper agrees to play Portugal in friendly match

CAIRO – 9 December 2017: Hector Cuper, head coach of the Egyptian national team, welcomed the offer by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to play a friendly game against Portugal. The match will take place during the training camp in March which will prepare the Pharaohs for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Egypt qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia after it succeeded in the African qualifiers.

The Egyptian Football Association received also an offer for a friendly game from the Bulgarian team but coach Cuper preferred to face Portugal.

Egypt also received offers for a friendly game from South American teams, including Mexico and Ecuador. Cuper is expected to make a decision soon.

Egypt was placed in group A with Russia, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. The EFA began to arrange friendly matches to prepare the Pharaohs for the 2018 World Cup.
