CAIRO – 8 December 2017 : Liverpool’s former captain, Jamie Carragher believes that Everton will not be able to defeat Liverpool on Sunday when they meet at Anfield in the Merseyside derby.

“As a fan, you are a little bit nervous thinking Sam Allardyce has come in and Everton have picked up a little bit and could it change? But then you come here in midweek and watch how well Liverpool are playing and it has to give you confidence,” Carragher, who has represented Liverpool his whole career, told Sky Sports on Friday.

Liverpool defeated Spartak Moscow 7-0 on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League to qualify to the second round on top of their group.

However, Everton appointed Sam Allardyce as their new coach on November 30 and since then the team results started to improve.

Carragher also revealed that there is no guaranteed result in the derby, saying, “and with Liverpool being at home, you have to be confident Liverpool will get the three points. But in a derby game you always fear the worst."

Liverpool is set to host Everton on Sunday at Anfield, the team hope to continue their amazing run in the league.
