CAIRO – 8 December 2017: West Bromwich’s manager, Alan Pardew, revealed on Thursday that he is not sure that his defender, Jonny Evans, will stay in the club past January. Evans has received many offers to join Premier League giants.

“I'm never confident when you've got great players because other clubs want great players, Jonny Evans is definitely one of them and he is our captain. Do I want to lose him? Of course not. Do I fear losing him? Of course I do,” Pardew, who was appointed West Bromwich’s manager last week, told the press on Thursday.

Evans, 29, had many offers to leave West Bromwich to join Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester City in the summer but he decided to stay with West Brom.

Pardew praised Evans’ commitment to the club, saying, “There was interest in him in the summer so it makes sense to stir it up. I understand that we deal with it and Jonny has dealt with it in his own way. For me, he was terrific.”

Evans formed a great partnership with Egypt’s Ahmed Hegazi in West Brom’s defense since the start of the season.

Evans is a Manchester United academy product, he joined the club when he was 16 years old and got promoted to the first team two years later. He wore Man United’s Shirt for nine years before leaving the club in 2015 to join West Brom.
