CAIRO – 6 December 2017: Iker Casillas would be close from leaving Porto to sign for Newcastle in the Premier League, where Rafa Benítez awaits him with open arms.
This is at least what ensures information from AS, a Spanish magazine, which assumes the decision of the Spanish goalkeeper.

Jose Sa, Porto’s second goalkeeper, is now the main goalkeeper since last October, which convinced Casillas that leaving the Portugese team is the best he could do. This is especially after Sergio Conceicao’s, Porto’s manager, messages regarding the loss of confidence in him.

Although Casillas maintains a contract until the end of the season, the former Real Madrid goalkeeper would have decided his departure in January. Waiting for him in England is Rafa Benítez, who would give him the goalkeeping position instead of Karl Darlow, who is celebrating his third season in the “Magpies” but he did not meet the expectations of the Spanish coach.

Newcastle, which in the last six rounds has only scored one point, falling to the 15th place in the standings of the Premier League, is the seventh team in England with most goals conceded (22 goals) and Benitez wants to strengthen the squad to recover the pulse.
