Ancelotti refuses Italy`s head coach position

CAIRO – 6 December 2017: Carlo Ancelotti has given clues about his future. With his removal from Bayern, the name of the coach was sounded as a favorite to replace coach Gian Piero Ventura, who was sacked from Italy’s national team coaching position after Italy failed to qualify to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Despite being the most desired by the fans of Italy, Ancelotti does not want to be the new coach of the Italian team.

"I'm honored that so many Italians want me to coach the ‘Azzuri’, but there are other things related to my will. I would like to train a team again, but in a club. I want to be in the field every day. Being a coach would mean changing jobs,” explained the Italian.

"There is also another cause; Italian football has many problems. I can commit to solving them, but I think we should all get involved. We have to start doing something different or wait for divine providence to send us to a new Tardelli or another Pirlo," he said.

Ancelotti also expressed in the Domenica Sportiva TV program his desire to return to the Italian league, saying, "Back to training in Serie A? Why not!”

Ancelotti, 58, is one of Europe's most successful coaches, having won the Champions League with both AC Milan and Real Madrid. He has also won domestic league titles in Italy, England, France and Germany, according to Reuters.
