CAIRO – 23 November 2017: Basel defeated Manchester United 1-0 at UEFA Champions League thanks to a late goal from their defender, Michael Lang.

Manchester United needed only one point to secure their qualification to the second round so Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho started the game with a defensive line-up with Chris Smalling, Daley Blind Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian.

Manchester depended on Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial to break the Swiss defense, while Basel manager, Raphaël Wicky depended on the counter-attacks.

Both teams created many chances to score in the whole game but they failed until Lang scored the only goal in the game a minute before the final whistle.

Manchester United still on top of the group with 12 points, while Basel shares the second place with Cska Moscow with 9 points while Benfica stayed on the bottom with 0 points.

Manchester hosts Cska Moscow in the last game in the group while Basel travels to face Benfica in Portugal.
