CAIRO –15 November 2017: Argentine international Javier Mascherano is out of action for a month due to injury.

Mascherano returned to Barcelona after his country’s friendly match against Nigeria, but tests revealed his hamstring injury will make him out of action for a month, according to the newspaper “Sport.”

Mascherano will be sidelined for 4 La Liga matches, specifically against Leganés, Valencia, Celta Vigo and Villarreal.

Javier will also miss the last round of the group’s Champions League against Juventus and Real Murcia match in Copa del Rey.

If things go well, he is expected to return on December 17 for the match against Deportivo La Coruna. A week later, he will be ready to play against Real Madrid in the Clasico.

The problem is that Gérard Pique and Samuel Omtiti have four yellow cards; if they get another yellow card, they will be suspended, which could open the door for Belgium’s Thomas Vermaelen.
