CAIRO – 13 November 2017: Real Madrid French striker, Karim Benzema, spoke on Sunday about how media criticism affects his form on the pitch.

“It is difficult, especially in Spain, where sometimes you do not understand it,” Benzema told Canal + on Sunday.

Benzema has been criticized this season after his poor performance with the club for scoring only one goal in the Spanish League after 13 fixtures.

Benzema added; “The hardest part is when criticism comes from your own fans. They are normally there to boost you."

Benzema joined Real Madrid in 2009 from Lyon and since then he earned a regular place at Real Madrid's attacking line. He also formed a partnership with Madrid’s Portuguese winger, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking about his Portuguese teammate, Benzema said; “[Ronaldo] is more selfish than me, but that is normal. In the end, his selfishness does not bother me; it is good for the team. I like to play with him."
