CAIRO – 9 November 2017: Lionel Messi, Argentinean star of FC Barcelona, gave an interview to TyC Sports in which, among other things, he analyzed the finals of the next 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Messi, who led the Argentinean national team in its qualification, has revealed that he does not want to be in the path of some national teams. He also revealed the candidates that he believes can win the World Cup title.

"The candidates are Spain, Brazil, Germany, and France. They are the ones," Messi said on Wednesday.

Messi hopes to avoid meeting Spain at the World Cup group stage, he said; "I don’t want to face Spain, which is one of the teams that can face us in the group; they would be a very difficult opponent."

Messi spoke about his chances in playing at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. "For now, I’m thinking of the next World Cup in Russia, I hope we can achieve what we all want, it is the dream that we all have, and then we will see how the road continues."
