CAIRO – 9 November 2017 : Spanish striker Alvaro Morata revealed on Wednesday the converstion he had with Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane known as “Zizou” before leaving the club this summer to join Chelsea.

“He said to me ‘Alvaro, I know that you want to play and have consistency and I think it would be logical for you to go’. He said he wanted me to stay but also that he had a lot of options going forward,” Morata told Marca on Wednesday.

Morata is a Real Madrid academy product; he joined the club at 16 and stayed in the youth team till he won his debut with the first team in 2010.

Morata, 25, played for four years in Real Madrid before he left to join Juventus for two years and rejoining Madrid in 2016. Morata failed to book a regular place in Zidane’s squad so he joined Chelsea this summer.

Morata added, “I decided that the best thing was for me to go because there was a World Cup ahead and I wanted to be at that. I want to be an important player for Spain and for that I need consistency, which I am looking for.”
