CAIRO – 7 November 2017: Former English striker Terry Gibson believes that Barcelona striker Luis Suarez will end his difficult period with Barcelona and get his form back.

“We expect him to get his form back at some stage, with his all-round play and scoring goals on a regular basis, and that enhances Barcelona more than Paco Alcacer can," Gibson told Sky Sports on Monday.

Suarez, 30, scored only three goals with Barcelona this season in 12 games in the Spanish League and UEFA Champions League.

Gibson believes that Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has a great role to play in Suarez’s situation. He said, “If he was to bench him or take him off in every game, I don't think we will see the best version of Luis Suarez. It's interesting to see how an experienced manager handles a massive superstar when he is out of form.”

Gibson revealed that he was surprised with Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer’s performance on Saturday against Sevilla in the Spanish League. He said, “What surprised me at the weekend was his intelligence in playing in an unfamiliar position. I had him down as a striker who couldn't play anywhere else, but he showed intelligence to perform two or three roles in one."

Alcacer led Barcelona to defeat Sevilla 2-1, scoring Barcelona’s two goals in the game, the first one of which was assisted by Suarez.
