CAIRO – 3 November 2017: The UEFA chose Italian winger Stephan El Shaarawy as player of the week in the Champions League after he led his team, Roma, to defeat Chelsea 3-0 on Tuesday.

El Shaarawy, born to an Egyptian father, scored two goals in the first half to help his team beat the English champions and top their group in the Champions League.

Stephan, 25, scored the first goal one minute into the game, and he doubled the score minutes before the first half final whistle. His teammate Diego Perotti scored the third goal in the second half.

El Shaarawy received 60 percent of the votes, while his former Roma teammate and current Liverpool winger, Mohamed Salah, received 34 percent.

El Shaarawy competed with six other players beside Salah: Sergio Aguero, Kingsley Coman, Layvin Kurzawa, Marlos Romero, Alan Dzagoev and Dele Alli.
