CAIRO – 3 November 2017: Mohamed Ounajem, Wydad Casablanca striker, wished to be on his team squad that will face Al-Ahly in the CAF Champions League second-leg final at Mohammed V Stadium in Morocco on Saturday.

Ounajem got subbed due to an injury in the 27th minute of the first-leg clash held at Borg El Arab Stadium, which ended 1-1.

“I wished to be with my teammates in the African final to support them and achieve the title,” Ounajem told Moroccan newspaper Almountakhab.

“I believe in fate, and this helped me to accept the injury I got,” he added.

“I trust all the players and I hope that they will bring joy to all Wydad`s fans,” he ended.
Medical tests revealed that Ounajem had a fracture in his left foot, which requires rest of at least 15 days.

The 25-year-old is a key player in Wydad's team, providing five assists in 13 Champions League appearances this term.

Wydad de Casablanca is looking for its first Champions League title since 1992.

They reached the final in the 2011 edition but lost the title after slumping to a 1-0 loss on aggregate to Tunisian side Esperance de Tunis.

Al-Ahly needs to win with any result in order to win the title. The Egyptian team will fight in the game in an attempt to win the ninth Champions League trophy in the club’s history.
