CAIRO – 3 November 2017: Sergio Ramos, captain of Real Madrid, returned to face the press after the defeat to Tottenham in Wembley. This is the second consecutive defeat, after the match against Girona.

Champions League title-holders Real Madrid suffered one of their worst European defeats, as Dele Alli scored twice in the Tottenham Hotspurs’ 3-1 victory at Wembley on Wednesday, putting the London club into the last 16.

Sergio Ramos wanted to send a message of tranquility to Real Madrid fans, but also wanted to remind rivals, including Barcelona, not to give them up for dead.

"We understand the pessimism that can be created in our fans after these last results. We must remain calm and be united," said Sergio Ramos in the press area of Wembley Stadium.

"What happens is that when the result does not accompany, public opinion changes, and, obviously, we do not expect it to be positive," the Madrid captain added.

"Do not take my credit to Tottenham, but we understand the pessimism that can be created. But Real Madrid always come back and puts everyone in their place. Whoever defeated us will be put in place. Real Madrid always comes back and will return very soon," warned Sergio Ramos.

Sergio Ramos insisted that "because of my experience of so many years here in Madrid, we have to keep the calm more than ever. This continues and we are alive in our favorite competition, the Champions League."
