CAIRO – 1 November 2017: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed on Wednesday the list of nominees for the African player of the year award.

The list included 30 African players who play inside and outside the continent.

Egyptian player Mohamed Salah had a wonderful year on the club and international levels, as he led Egypt to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. He scored five of Egypt’s seven goals in the qualifiers.

Salah also had a wonderful year with Roma, which led Liverpool to sign him this summer.

Salah scored eight goals with Liverpool since he joined the club ‒ five goals in the Premier League and three goals in the Champions League.

Another Egyptian name appeared on the list as well ‒ Essam El-Hadary, who was Egypt’s goalkeeper in the African Cup of Nations and the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Al-Ahly’s Tunisian defender Ali Maaloul is also included in the list, after he led Al-Ahly to the CAF Champions League final and led Tunisia to top its group in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

The other 27 players on the list are Bertrand Traore, Cedric Bakambu, Christian Atsu, Christian Bassogog, Denis Onyango, Eric Bailly, Fabrice Ondoa, Fackson Kapumbu, Jean Michel Seri, Junior Kabananga, Karim El Ahmadi, Keita Balde, Khalid Boutaib, Mbwana Samata, Michael Olunga, Moussa Marega, Naby Keita, Percy Tau, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sadio Mane, Thomas Partey, Victor Moses, Yves Bissouma, Vincent Aboubakar, Youssef Msakn, Yacine Brahimi and William Troost-Ekong.
