Ismaily players celebrate the second goal, Twitter

CAIRO – 27 October 2017 : Ismaily won the Canal Derby after defeating Al-Masry 2-1 on Friday in week 7 of the Egyptian League to stay on top of the Egyptian League table.

Both teams started the game trying to gain the upper hand, but the game stopped only five minutes in, as Ismaily goalkeeper Mohamed Awwad was injured.

Mahmoud Metwally gave Ismaily the lead in the game after he scored a penalty in the 44th minute, but Ahmed Gomaa equalized the score seconds before the final whistle through a penalty.

Ismaily controlled the second half, and Mahmoud Metwally and Karim Ahmed, known as Banbo, threatened Al-Masry goalkeeper Mahmoud Sayed many times but failed to score the second goal.

Wagih Abdel Hakim granted Ismaily the victory after he scored a goal by a strike from outside the area only seconds before the final whistle.

Ismaily stayed on top of the table with 16 points, while Al-Masry stayed in second place with 13 points.
