CAIRO – 22 October 2017: Egypt's first match in the 2017 Men's African Volleyball Championship will be on Sunday against Niger in Cairo Stadium’s indoor halls.

Egypt plays in Group A alongside Congo and Niger, while Tunisia plays in Group B alongside Ghana, Kenya and Libya.

Group C includes Nigeria, Cameroon, and Morocco, and Algeria plays in Group D alongside Chad, Rwanda and Botswana.

Egypt’s Volleyball Federation President, Khaled Nassef, decided to postpone the opening ceremony of the competition to be on Monday instead of Sunday.

The opening ceremony was scheduled to be on Sunday, but Al-Ahly’s game against Etoile Du Sahel in the CAF Champions League semi-finals would have been played on the same day; thus distracting Egyptian fans.

Egypt, the reigning champions, hope to win their seventh title in a row to be the nation with the highest number of titles in this competition. Egypt and Tunisia share the top rank with eight titles each.

Egypt hosts the 2017 Men's African Volleyball Championship from October 22 to 29 for the eighth time.
