CAIRO – 30 Septemper 2017 - Athletic Bilbao announced Iker Muniain’s injury in his foot’s cruciate ligaments, through his official website on Friday.

24-year-old Muniain fell in a match against Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League, which tore his right foot’s cruciate ligaments.

The Spanish club did not announce the period in which the player will be absent.

This is Muniain’s second cruciate ligament injury, the first occurring in 2014-2015, which led to the player missing 252 days in the field.

Muniain played 340 matches with Athletic Bilbao, scoring 44 goals and assisting in 35.
Muniain’s contract with Bilbao ends in 2019.

Athletic Bilbao is in Group J in the Europa League, with Hertha Berlin, Zorya Luhansk and Ostersund.
