Both players played three years together in Chelsea.

“In recent years there has not been a pure striker better than him; he understood my game, read my passes and most importantly he could score from them,” Fabregas told press on Monday.

Fabregas added, “With Diego, it is not just what he gives you on the pitch, but it is his character, too; he brings a lot to the group."

Costa will not be able to play with Atletico Madrid till January, as FIFA banned the club from signing players this summer.

Fabregas, 30, commented on Costa’s situation, saying, “Diego knew that if he signed for Atletico, he could not play for a few months. It has been a difficult situation for both him and for Chelsea; it has been wrong."

It is good to mention that Costa, 28, left Chelsea to rejoin his former club, Atletico Madrid, after he had troubles with Chelsea’s current coach, Antonio Conte.
