CAIRO - 22 September 2017- Mohamed Abouelghar and Omar Abdel Meguid each won their games on Friday. They will now face each other at the semi-final of the Macau Squash Open 2017 on Saturday, guaranteeing an Egyptian player in the final of the tournament.

Four players representing Egypt participated in the Macau Open. Mazen Gamal left the tournament in the first round after losing to Saurav Ghosal from India, while Omar Mosaad succeeded in the first round but failed to win his match in the second round after he lost to German Simon Rosner, ranked number one in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Omar Abdel Meguid and Mohamed Abouelghar managed to win in all their matches in Macau to qualify for the semi-final scheduled for Saturday and book an Egyptian seat in the final of the tournament, which will be played on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in the women’s competition, Egypt is represented by seven players: Raneem El Welily, Yathreb Adel, Nadine Shahin, Mariam Metwally, Mayar Hany, Rowan Elaraby and Nouran Gohar.

Nouran Gohar, the world’s number two, managed to win in all her matches in the Macau Open. The last of them was against Wales’s Tesni Evans, which Nouran won by a 3-0 victory to qualify for the semi-final to face Annie Au from Hong Kong on Saturday. Also, another Egyptian reached the women’s semi-finals, as Yathreb Adel defeated Hong Kong’s Joey Chan 3-0, and she will now face Joelle King of New Zealand on Saturday.
