CAIRO—15 September 2017 : Tunisia defeated Nigeria 77-65 at the 2017 AfroBasket final on Saturday night in Rades, Tunisia to achieve the precious title for the second time in the history.


The game started well for Nigeria, who won the first quarter 14-8 but the Tunisians returned to the game winning the second and third quarter 17-10 and 27-16 respectively. They ended the fourth quarter with a 25-25 draw to win the game 77-65 as their fans witnessed.

Tunisian players Mohamed Hadidane and Mourad El Mabrouk were included in the tournament team alongside Nigerian players Ikenna Iroegbu and Ike Diogu as well as Senegalese player Gorgui Dieng. Nigerian Ike Diogu won the title of the most valuable player in the competition.


Senegal achieved the Bronze Medal after beating Morocco 73-62.

Tunisia co-hosted the event group stage with Senegal from September 8 to 16, but the knockout stages played in Tunisia.


Tunisia achieved their first title in the competition in 2011 after beating Angola in the final.
