CAIRO – 26 August 2017: The Champions League draw for the 2018 season has given balanced teams, with strong chances for all major teams to qualify for the second round.

However, Real Madrid has signed in a tough group that also includes Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspurs.

Attention turned early to the major teams as candidates for the title this season, but many of the followers wish to see the current version of new events, most notably:

Stop the dominance of Spain:

Spanish teams have won the last four editions, with Real Madrid having won three times and Barcelona once, and the major teams will try to stop this domination and grab the title from Spain. The leading candidates remain Bayern Munich and Juventus.

A new champion:

This season will witness the participation of 12 teams that had already won the title before. But it will be a surprise if a new team wins the title, like Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint Germain or Manchester City.

Stop the dominance of Ronaldo and Messi on the top scorer title:

Since the 2008 season, Cristiano Ronaldo has won the title five times and Messi four times, and they have shared it together with Neymar once.

Great surprises:

In 2013, Chelsea was eliminated in the group stage of the tournament despite having been the champions of 2012 tournament. The previous editions did not have major surprises in the group stage, as the major teams qualified.

The current edition needs a revolution to achieve surprises; especially since most of the groups included two candidates and two teams struggling to qualify for the second round.
